The most used model plant (dicot). Its genome was sequenced in 2000. Easy to transform. Good for genetics, morphology and also lipidomics.

Good for biochemical use and transient transformation by agrobacterium.

First sequenced cyanobacterium by Kazusa DNA institute (1996). Very easy to transform.

Synechococcus sp. PCC 7942

Have been used for biochemical analysis. Size of genome is smaller than other cyanobacteria. Very easy to transform.

Anabaena sp. PCC 7120

First sequence filamentous cyanobacterium by Kazusa DNA institute (2000). Fix nitrogen by differentiating heterocysts under nitrogen limited condition.

Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis

Isolated at Chad lake in Mexico. Good for food.

Zooxanthella, lives in symbiosis with corals, jellyfishes, giant clams  and so on.


Flammulina velutipes

Known as gEnokih in Japan. Very tasty.
